Crazy Cat Ladies

Somehow I just know I will wind up a crazy cat lady.
How do I know?

When visiting an old friend, I discovered she had become one. Instead of rubbing my hands in desperation at her state of affairs and thinking how I might help her deal with her predicament, I found myself envious. She has fifteen cats she’s responsible for. I have only three. She is twelve cats richer, and twelve cats luckier than I am.

If you are one who finds one cat a cat too many, you will not understand. If you find each cat to be a precious masterpiece, you know what I mean. Just look at her deck on a balmy Saturday morning. Not all fifteen felines were there then, but those who were made it glorious.
Hemingway said, “One cat just leads to another.” I don't know if he liked cats. I suspect as a manly man he probably didn’t. You can't control cats, just marvel at their grace and perfection. Manly men usually prefer dogs. Dogs come when they’re called. Cats take a message and get back to you later. When they do get back to you, you feel either annoyed or honored. Only the latter, those who feel honored, would begin to understand this post.

The notion that cats are solitary is false. They live in colonies when they are feral, and make cozy families when they are household pets. Mine lick each other and cuddle with each other every day. My friend’s fifteen cats were civilized eating their breakfast. No pushing, shoving, or a hiss in sight. Just a decorous glorious feast. See?

I know. I’m doomed already.

I don't think I'll ever become the crazy cat lady but I admit I was interested in watching the Kitten Bowl on the Hallmark channel. The commercials were just too cute, despite I was going "Huh? There's a kitten bowl." I never got to watch it (and you might say aw shucks) but I guess I was lucky. Best to nip it in the bud when it comes to cats because my husband hates cats (prefers dogs), so there's no way we'd own one.

I don't think I'll ever become the crazy cat lady either, but I am already known as that crazy lady who walks her dog three times of day in all kinds of weather.

I think we are in danger of becoming crazy cat people over here. We have three currently, which is the highest count yet, but every kitten we encounter - the husband wants to keep it.

I have one cat who reminds me every day that I'm a dog person. ;)

I am not really a cat person, but your post made me smile. If you become a crazy cat lady, at least we'll know you're happy. :)

Mirka, you and I will both become crazy cat ladies ... at one point I have four and I still mourn the two we had to give away because of renting laws that prohibited more than 2 pets ... loved the photos!

LOL! I haven't had cats since I was a kid, but The Boy keeps mentioning how it would be really nice to have a cat.

No cats here, but wow, great pictures of all those cats eating breakfast in one place.

I don't know why but I can't read your text in this post, Mirka. (I can only see the pictures but there's no text.) There have been several times in my life when I thought I might become a non-crazy cat lady. Who knows?

Ouch. Could be a browser issue. I can see the full post in both Chrome and IE, which are the ones I use.
Otherwise, maybe the great Cosmic Internet chef wants me to say less? ;)
