Welcome, SUMMER*

*...almost
{June 21st 9:07 AM, PDT}

So, we are just about to enter official summer.

I was never fond of Summer, until I moved to the SF bay area.

Growing up in Jerusalem, Summer was HOT. I mean, too hot.

Later, in upstate New York, it was hot and muggy, thank you very much.

Growing up, Summer meant a long school-break. It was also a long time of missing my classmates and my home-away-from-home, which is what school was for me. Not a happy thing.

Swimming pool weather meant sunburns. Later, in adolescence, it entailed being self-conscious about my figure and the growing attention it got. I never felt all right about having someone look at my body who didn't bother to look at my face first, or make conversation. This happened a lot more in summer.

So Summer and I were not friends.

Now we made peace, Summer and I. I’ve passed the point of others gawking and I live where the Summers are gentle. I've grown up, and Summer has definitely matured into a mellow fellow.

Welcome, Summer. Happy to be with you again.

Aw, Mirka, I'm sorry summers were always so difficult until now. It really is wonderful to be at peace. Enjoy! Does this also mean visits from the kiddos?

Glad you can enjoy the season more now. Growing up, summer for me was a more relaxed time for playing outdoors and looking forward to church camp, two weeks of VBS, and getting to go on family vacation to visit my grandparents and see my relatives. A fun season!

It does, and I no longer need to run Camp Mama, so it's all a bonus :)

I love summer because it means more time with my daughter. :)

I simply love the increased daylight and always have a pang of panic once June 21st has passed since I know we're past the peak. Have fun with your new friend!

FYI-- The comments section of Blogger has locked me out of my own blog, and also has had issues letting me know of awaiting approval comments ever since May 25. I mention it here not only to test if I can comment, but to let anyone reading that , hopefully, the techies at Blogger will fix it eventually. Meanwhile, bear with me as I continue to weed out spam while all opinions from real people are welcome.

Yay for summer. I grew up loving summer, maybe because it meant my birthday and vacation. It seems like it wasn't as hot back then as it is now. Now my favorite seasons are spring and fall which are always way too short.

I didn't like summer until air conditioning was invented. Even as a kid, I didn't like the heat and humidity. And my colouring meant I couldn't stay out in the harsh sun like my friends.

It must help to live in the Bay area, where the weather is mostly moderate.
