It’s
that wistful time of year, when I am giving thanks, or trying to.
Thanks
for what I don’t have, which would not have been good for me: various
health issues, loss and desolation, and many more things I feared that didn’t
materialize.
Thanks
for being here, still. Like a wise old man once told me: “They give me a day, I
take it.” Last I heard he is over a hundred years old, and just got a birthday
greeting from the president.
But most of
all—
THANKSGIVING
Week, and I feel propelled to thank you.
Thank you
for reading this, and thank you for comments you have made in the past. You let
me know I was not alone.
And I am thankful for *you,* dear Mirka.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It's important to appreciate what we do have when we have it--health (this is most important), shelter, electricity, flushing toilets (you may laugh, but try going without them for long), democracy, love, friendship. Any of these can be gone in an instant and I feel lucky and blessed to have them.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
I'm so thankful for you, Mirka. I love interacting with you on our blogs. I can tell you are a truly good person with a big heart, which happens to be my favorite type of person. Thank you for being you and for allowing me to be part of your life.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with what Kelly said. I, too, can tell you're a wonderful human being.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful that you're in my life.
Mirka, it was my very good fortune to meet you at Hazara Gallery early in the course of my final Sabbatical leave, 1999-2000. Keep well, and continue writing. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving yesterday.
ReplyDeleteYour friend in Canada, Hoyt
I'm thankful for you, Mirka, and all our friends at Pens and Brushes.
ReplyDeleteWise words indeed. We do have much to be grateful for. Thank you for all your kind comments as well.
