I'm getting closer to the decision, though. Maybe because I feel I need to keep up with the industry. My friends feel no such need. They just want a good read, in the format they're used to. <br /><br />I do hope that print books will always be around, and not just for scholars and in museums and libraries. I hope both kinds of books can co-exist.Barbara Etlinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07190731838738606727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7570512522741409033.post-26769825872018106582012-04-21T09:23:12.955-07:002012-04-21T09:23:12.955-07:00I'm not a Luddite at all, but I do NOT want to...I'm not a Luddite at all, but I do NOT want to see print books go. And I just see too many book lovers -- the people who buy books -- feeling the same, so I'm cautiously optimistic that they'll be here for my lifetime. <br /><br />I see the advantages of both e- and print reading, and I'd like to have the choice. I admit I haven't yet tried to read many e-novels, but I have noticed this: I cannot sink down into them the way I can a print book. The reading experience on a device is different, as to how one relates to the story, and I think something will be lost when e-versions become the only alternative.Marciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10006966091789130047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7570512522741409033.post-14711744838880365952012-04-19T06:41:07.873-07:002012-04-19T06:41:07.873-07:00And I'm glad you chimed in! :)

I must add however, that eventhough I love my Kindle, I am an academic librarian and I still send my students to encyclopedias in print, especially in Hebrew (there not many good online options in this language). Some topics such as philosophy and history have excellent entries in the good old encyclopedias and or basic textbooks. I you must never underestimate the power of browsing the stacks!Hava Rembrandhttp://www.yvc.ac.il/383.htmlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7570512522741409033.post-64346766915216447662012-04-18T04:19:57.460-07:002012-04-18T04:19:57.460-07:00I don't ever want print books to go away.
